Hiranyaksha hides the Earth deep in the sea, and Lord Vishnu appears in His Varaha Avatar to rescue it and kill the demon. Hiranyakashipu, seeking revenge, prays to Lord Brahma and receives a boon that he cannot be killed by any living or non-living being, neither inside nor outside the house.
